Daily Juice 094 – Gift Ideas- Monetary Gifts, part 2 Charitable Donations

We are in the midst of holidays and lots of holiday spending. Every year many of us spend unnecessary amounts of money on gifts that have no practical use and meaningful value. So, my question is why buy these gifts in the first place?

In previous episodes, we talked about types of monetary gifts: such as actual physical gifts you can buy; experience gifts (things to do) and Financial Gifts (helping someone achieve their financial goals).

How about we shift focus a bit and think about Charitable gifts. If you want to find the real meaning of giving gifts and still please a person who has it all, here are some creative ways you can do that:

  1. Donate funds to the charity of their choice. What is the cause your loved once are passionate about?
  2. Buy a gift (real gift) that will partially donate funds to charities. A good example is Toms.com shoes (for every pair you buy, they will give one pair to someone who needs it)
  3. Buy a gift for someone you don’t know. I see this often around holidays when you stand in line in a coffee shop, a person in front of you buys you a cup of coffee. Pay it forward, as I would call it.

Now, remember, you don’t have to go out of your skin to please someone. I am a strong believer that the thought counts more than the gift itself.
