Learn more about our new member to the MainStreet Team, Vida Jatulis!
When did you join the MS team?
I joined MainStreet on February 15, 2022.
What are you most excited about working for MainStreet?
Meeting clients and helping them have a vibrant and healthy financial life is what I am most excited about. Life is filled with so many complex financial decisions and we typically only get one chance to get it right. The MainStreet team is dedicated to helping people make smart financial decisions and that is what attracted me to working for this company. I am proud to be part of a team of fee only financial planners that do not sell any products and always put clients first.
What is your favorite book?
Stories about real people inspire me. One of my favorite books is The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot.
What is one of your favorite childhood memories?
My dad is an artist, so our family spent many Saturdays in New York City museums. We lived in Connecticut, so it was an all-day outing. NYC was such an exciting place, there was so much to observe not only in the museums but on the streets of the city. I remember riding the subway, eating street food and walking the busy streets. These trips taught me so much about the world and gave me the desire to travel, explore and seek adventure.
What is your favorite meal?
A lavender latte…can that count as a meal?
Tell us about a recent event you attended/place you visited that you loved?
Iceland is the most beautiful country I have ever been to. Our family visited before the pandemic hit. As we drove around the country (no freeways…pure bliss for someone from Los Angeles) there are waterfalls everywhere, dramatic landscapes and fantastic geological features. We soaked in hot springs, climbed glaciers, felt the spray of waterfalls and ate wonderful meals.
If you were stranded on a desert island, what’s the one thing you’d bring with you?
My fishing pole so I can catch dinner!
Tell us about where you currently live.
I live in Oak Park, California which is an 11-mile drive to the beautiful beaches of Malibu and nestled against the open space and hiking trails of the Cheeseboro and Palo Comado canyon. I love that I can hike in the morning then paddle board in the ocean in the afternoon and still get home to cook dinner.
Tell us about your family?
Both of my parents were born in Lithuania and immigrated to the U.S. as children. My older sister and I were raised learning the Lithuanian language and culture. I met my husband Darius shortly after moving to California right after college graduation. We love spending time outdoors with our two sons. Some of our favorite things to do include skiing, hiking, paddle boarding/surfing, playing tennis, and adventure traveling together.
What is one item on your bucket list?
I hope to hike to the top of Mt. Whitney this summer. Mt. Whitney is the tallest peak (14,505 ft.) in the contiguous United States.
